Matthew White attended University of Denver's Lamont School
of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in 2001.
While there he majored in Jazz and Commercial Music Studies
with a concentration in tenor saxophone. He was recipient of
a four year talent based tuition grant and was selected as co-winner
of Lamont Made Composition Contest.
Matt
has performing and recording experience with numerous groups
and artists including Fina Dupa, Justin Case Blues Band, The
O-Tone Brass Band, Funky Babylonians, Peneplain Jazz Project,
Irie Still , Roots Down Ensemble, Denver Municipal Band and
the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra. He is currently performing
with the Buckner Funk'n Jazz Band which was winner of Westword's
Best Jazz Band Award.
Matt's
teaching experience includes private saxophone instruction
for Aeolian Arts and Music, Music and Arts Center and Evergreen
School of Music. He also has experience teaching flute, piano,
improvisation and theory. His extensive academic and diverse
performance background make him a great asset to the Evergreen
School of Music teaching staff.
